Following up from yesterday’s post — this is one of four different capsule board games (I only have #1 - I’m still on the lookout for 2-4). Released in 1990 by Bandai, this travel-sized board game in a capsule came with:
6 keshi figures — Yattaro (x2), Pururun, Sukashii, Karamaru, and Ko’on no Kami - the colours of which were 100% random.
A double-sided game board and instruction sheet
A tiny plastic ball that, in combination with the bottom half of the capsule, acted as the game’s roulette-style spinner (“ルーレット”)
It wasn’t just a gashapon toy — it was a mini board game for two players, played right on the printed map of Edoropolis!
Each character’s piece started on their own square, and players spun the capsule roulette to advance and “battle” rival ninjas on the way to the goal (Omi-chan’s teahouse).
Finding one of these with its hologram sticker and insert intact is rare — a literal time capsule from 1990. 🐾✨
