In the 1984 NBA draft Hakeem Olajuwon was selected with the first pick. Infamously, Sam Bowie was taken by the Portland Trailblazers with the number 2 pick before the Bulls selected Michael Jordan at #3. This is a beautiful on-card autograph made by upper deck of both Jordan and Olajuwon. Clearly, the hobby favors single signed cards of Jordan. However, I love these two autographs on the same card. It captures both the draft and their fearsome battles through the 80s and 90s. Hakeem only won two titles when Jordan retired and played baseball. Otherwise, most think that Jordan and the Bulls would’ve won eight straight titles.
Man, I love early Star Co. rookies. This one, especially, stuck out to me. I have been on the market for an Olajuwon Star rookie autograph for some time. When I saw this one with the inscription, “The Dream” I knew I had to have it. I likely overpaid for it, but you don’t see many of these out there, especially in great condition.
I’ve always had a thing for on-card, chunky patch, historically significant items. This card, #/10
has a large tri-colored Olympics patch from a game-worn Olympics jersey. I love Hakeem “the dream” - these rarely come up. Glad I was able to work out a deal for this one for my PC.
Got this in a pack at Legends of the Game in Toronto way back in the day. Had it graded a few years back and it’s still the highest grade for the card. Miss LotG!
